EDMONTON’S GRAND MARKETS KICK OFF 15TH SEASON ON 124 STREET WITH BLOCK PARTY OPENING EVENT MAY 14
Edmonton, AB — Grand Markets are back for their 15th season, launching with a vibrant community celebration on Thursday, May 14 at 108 Avenue and 124 Street. Marking a milestone year, the opening event invites Edmontonians to gather, connect, and celebrate 15 Seasons of Local Love.
From 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, the market will transform the 124 Street district into a lively, open-air experience featuring 50+ local vendors, 4+ food trucks, live entertainment, and family-friendly programming.
Attendees can expect a curated lineup of beloved local businesses including Original businesses like Doughnut Party and Little Bear Gelato, who started at the 124 Grand Market flagship location, alongside emerging makers, artisans, and entrepreneurs from across the region.
The grand opening will also feature:
- Live performances from local musicians and artists
- Street entertainment in partnership with the Jubilee Arts
- A free balloon artist experience for kids with Russ the Balloon Guy
- A free face painting area provided by Norwood Dental
- Swag giveaways and interactive vendor activations
- Food trucks and curated local eats
- Opportunities to explore and support surrounding 124 Street businesses
This milestone season reflects the continued evolution of the organization behind the markets.
Originally founded by Wild Heart Collective, the company has grown into Never Better Company, led by founder Kirsta Franke. Over the past 15 years, the markets have become a cornerstone of Edmonton’s small business ecosystem, supporting hundreds of vendors, creators, performers, and non-profits each season.
“As the world continues to shift, people are craving real connection more than ever,” says Franke. “The markets have always been about more than shopping. They are about community, about showing up for one another, and about creating space for local businesses and patrons to connect. Each market season contributes to the local economy by providing opportunities for small and medium-sized businesses to grow their visibility, test products, and connect directly with customers. Grand Markets also create meaningful employment for local staff and provide a platform for buskers, performers, and community organizations.
The 2026 season continues that mission, with an expanded focus on community programming, partnerships, and accessible experiences for all ages.
“This is a celebration of where we started, but even more so, where we’re going and how we have evolved,” adds Franke. “Fifteen seasons in, and we’re just getting started!”
The Grand Markets will run weekly throughout the season, with Thursday and Sunday markets, as well as pop-up night markets, The Grand Night Market in neighbourhoods across Edmonton.
