The Butterflyway Project
The Butterflyway Project is a volunteer-led movement that’s bringing nature home to neighbourhoods throughout Canada, one butterfly-friendly planting at a time.
In February, 2022, North Glenora was selected by the David Suzuki Foundation to become a Butterflyways Community from over 1000 applicants!
Plant a garden, big or small, and help connect North Glenora with beautiful butterfly gardens!
In North Glenora, the butterfly garden initiative has moved forward to cultivate community as it supports individuals to learn how to plant and tend gardens that are friendly to pollinators like bees, butterflies and other insects. One key to creating butterfly gardens is planting native plants, requiring much less water and offering a surprising array of colors from the glorious purple blue of Wild Bergamot or native Beebalm to the delicate white fronds of June grass.
Butterfly friendly garden spaces are created through small changes that can happen through pots on a balcony or in established yards.
