North Glenora Dragons Pond Hockey

Dragons Pond Hockey Returns for its 6th Season in 2022!

Pond Hockey is designed for kids in the community ages 6-10 as a fun, inclusive introduction to hockey or to expand on previous experiences with the game.  

Participants are required to have at least an Intermediate level of skating…which means they are confident skating, turning and stopping.

All Provincial Covid Restrictions will be strictly enforced throughout.

Registration and payment will open on December 10th.  More details below;

Dates and Times:

Sunday Mornings, Jan 9 – Mar 6. 6 – 8 weeks. 10AM – 11AM (Beginner) and 11AM-12PM (Advanced).  Additional Fun Skate will be hosted on Wednesday nights as well!

** Please Note: Pond Hockey is dependent on weather. Sessions will be cancelled if the wind-chill is below -20 degrees Celsius or if the ice is too soft. If possible, we will hold missed sessions in the following weeks as needed (weather permitting). **

Registration:

We have room for 35 registrants, ages 6-10.  You will need to fill out the pre-registration form online before December 10th (above). You must be a Community League member.

Cost:

$60 per player – this covers insurance provided by the Hockey Association.  Registration will be done using credit card on the online registration only.

Equipment:

We have equipment on-hand for registrants to borrow for the season.  Each player will receive a basic set of starter equipment on the first day (which includes neck guard, shoulder pads, elbow pads, pants, gloves, shin guards, carry bag) and a jersey. This equipment is yours to borrow and use for the entire season and will be returned after the season. Please take care of your equipment, and clean it as needed.

ALL PLAYERS MUST PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING EQUIPMENT:

Mandatory: skates*, helmet with mask, stick, jock/jill

* Skates, helmets and sticks can be borrowed from the North Glenora Community League rink shack on a first come first serve basis. Jock/jill must be purchased.

Optional: mouth guard

Structure:

Parents will need to ensure that their children are dressed and ready to play on time. Approximately half of the time will be skills and drills followed by a scrimmage.

Volunteering:

Since this is a 100% volunteer run program, please let us know if you are able to help in any way. Volunteer opportunities include: Equipment Manager, Coaching, Assistant Coaching, Rink Shack attendant, Final Party organizer, cancellation phone parents, hot-chocolate duty, or others you might like to contribute.
