The community showed up on Sunday for a fantastic partnership with the Alberta Native Bee Council. There was participation from all ages, even as young as 1 year old! The hall was buzzing with enthusiasm!
We had 24 community members in attendance for this free workshop (normally $75 person!) NGCL partnered with the Alberta Native Bee Council in 2025 to support their provincial bee species monitoring project through free use of the hall. AB Native Bee Council provided a pollinator walk (Summer 2025); a curated online presentation on the pollinators of North Glenora (posted QR code at the Rain Garden) and the Bumble Bee Box workshop.
In the workshop we learned:
- About AB Native Bee Council, about native bees in Alberta, what bees need in food and shelter.
- How to build and manage a native bumble bee box.
- How to support bee population monitoring as a citizen scientist.
