Summer fun in North Glenora

Splash park, Sports Camps, Green Shack and Much More!

The park will once again be bustling with activities during the summer months. Here is a summary of events and programs:

Drop-in Kids’ Programs (June 29 to Aug 21)

Our free drop-in program returns from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on weekdays for kids ages 6+ (younger kids can join with parental supervision). It is not a babysitting service, but a chance to join in on some group fun, including sports, crafts and games. North Glenora’s own Lauren Piers has been hired for
the position. This free program is jointly sponsored by North Glenora Community League,
Grovenor Community League, Westmount Presbyterian and St. Paul’s Anglican.

Green Shack Programs

This popular city-run program returns to North Glenora during the summer afternoons.  Events run Monday to Friday from 2:30 – 6 p.m.  On hot days, the spray park will also be open for everyone to use.

City of Edmonton Day Camps

The City of Edmonton offers a great selection of day camps in communities each summer. This year, North Glenora hosts a “Heroes in Training” camp from Aug 10 to 14.  The camp is for 3- to 5-year-olds, and runs from 9 to 11:30 a.m. each day. The cost is $74 and you can register at http://tinyurl.com/kpyk8v5. Many other camps are being offered in nearby communities.

$1,000 Bursaries for University Students

Are you interested in making an extra $1,000 during the summer? SCIP grants provide a way for you to volunteer in the community while earning some extra cash (www.joinscip.ca). We would love to receive proposals from students willing to organize some extra activities in the park (soccer camp, drama camp, adventure camp, art camp, etc.). Ideally, we are looking for programming between 12 and 2:30 p.m. on weekdays, but you can suggest alternative times—as long as the total project is over 50 hours. If you have an idea, contact Ryan at [email protected]. This year, we hope that three to four university students will take advantage of this program.
