Preschool & Indoor Playground Christmas Closure
Just a reminder to everyone that the last day for both the NGCL Preschool and NGCL Indoor Playground is Friday, December 20. Both start up again on Monday, January 6.
Dogs In Unfenced Yards
Community member Rufus Levesque asked for this to be shared with the community. “If you are walking your dog around the neighbourhood, or have a dog in your un-fenced yard, PLEASE have it on leash – especially if your dog likes to approach other dogs. Also, please do not approach other dogs with your onleash dog before asking the owner if it is okay to greet. Even if you are out and about for a moment, it only takes a moment for an accident to happen. Many dogs (including mine) are dog reactive and very fearful of unfamiliar dogs. This appears as aggression, but is based on fear and barrier frustration. Even though your dog may be very friendly and enjoy other dogs, this does not matter to a dog reactive dog. All they see is a threat and they will do anything they can to make that threat ‘go away’, including barking, lunging, bearing teeth, and if contacted by the other dog, biting. If you are interested in learning more about this behaviour, this is a good summary: http://www.greatcompanions.info/reactive_dogs.html For the safety of all, please keep your dogs onleash while in public spaces and in un-fenced yards and keep an adequate distance when crossing paths. Thank you SO much for your understanding and cooperation.”
