We are looking for volunteers to shovel sidewalks for folks who are unable to clear snow in front of their homes. Volunteers will be matched with a resident in the North Glenora community, and will be responsible for keeping the resident’s sidewalks clear throughout the winter months. Volunteers are responsible for clearing snow within 24 hours of any snowfall 1cm or more, from late November through to the beginning of Spring (February/March, depending on weather).
This volunteer role is suitable for an adult or responsible teenager who is dependable, able to work independently, and physically able to shovel snow. The time commitment for this position depends on the weather and the travel time between your home and the resident you are matched with.
In addition, all volunteers MUST:
- Live within walking distance of North Glenora and/or have access to reliable transportation
- Have appropriate clothing and footwear to work outdoors in cold weather
- Remain in Edmonton and be available to shovel snow throughout the entire winter season
Shovels will be provided. Volunteers in good standing will be provided with an honorarium at the end of the season.
