It has come to the attention of the North Glenora Community League Executive that a group of Far-Right Activists are planning an Anti-Sex-Ed Convoy targeting the Alberta Teachers’ Association building on our community perimeter on Wednesday, September 20.
The group is planning to block traffic to one lane around the perimeter of North Glenora. The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is aware that this activity is taking place and will be on hand to monitor the situation. It is expected that anti-protesters to this group will also protest the convoy. The potential for altercations for a convoy such as this is always a concern and especially since the group will be all around our neighbourhood perimeter.
“We understand that many of our residents will be concerned about the appearance of hate groups gathering in our community. These individuals, and their views are not welcome in our community. We have told both the City of Edmonton and the Edmonton Police Service that they are not welcome here and we will not tolerate harassment or threatening behaviour towards any community members.
We have reached out to EPS and the City of Edmonton to ask what plans are in place to keep all residents safe and ensure that hate groups do not find harbour in our community.”
We will post an update if and when new information becomes available. In the meantime, stay safe out there everyone! Please contact Chris with any concerns: [email protected].
