Saturday, October 29, 2022, 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM
North Glenora Community League Hall, 13535 109A Ave NW Edmonton, AB T5M 3Z4
The North Glenora Community League is thrilled to be hosting a screening of the documentary film “A Ball and a Stick”. The film tells the story of a grassroots lacrosse team established in North Glenora in 1966 that went on to represent Alberta at the Canada Summer Games just three years later.
Formed in 1966, the North Glenora Blues were one of Alberta’s first box lacrosse clubs. Now in their 70s, the original Blues players look back and reflect on the game that shaped their lives and those around them including the two North Glenora teams which represented Alberta at the Canada Summer Games in 1973 and 1977.
We will be joined by some of the former players for a Q&A session where they will share their memories of the team and of North Glenora “back in the day”. We will also be joined by the film’s director Noelle Spaulding, a NAIT Digital Cinema student.
Admission is free. There will be a cash concession to support North Glenora Community League programs.
