Indoor Soccer Registration – Online until September 11

Youth soccer players and families – registration for Edmonton Minor Soccer Association West Zone (EWZSA) indoor (winter) soccer will soon be starting! This message provides some information on indoor soccer and how to register.

1. What is indoor soccer? Indoor soccer is… soccer played indoors. Youth indoor soccer is organized by the Edmonton Minor Soccer Association, West Zone (EWZSA). Coaching and community organization are provided by volunteers. If you would like to volunteer to coach a team, please contact us by email at [email protected].

2. How do I register my child to play indoor soccer? This year, all indoor soccer registration will be done online through the EWZSA website: http://www.ewzsa.com/home. Registration is available from August 15 to September 11. There will be no paper or central registration. In addition, to register you will require a valid Alberta health card number for each child being registered and a valid 2014/2015 community league membership.

3. How do I obtain a 2014-15 Community League membership (i.e., in order to register for indoor soccer)? There are two options for obtaining a 2014-15 North Glenora Community League membership: (1) in person at the NG Community Hall on August 14 from 6:30-7:30pm, or (2) as part of the annual door-to-door canvassing for memberships by North Glenora neighbourhood volunteers, which will begin at the end of August. For other neighbourhoods, community league contact info is available at the EFCL website: http://www.efcl.org/LeagueDirectory/tabid/120/Default.aspx.

4. Where and when is indoor soccer played? The season generally runs from mid-October through to the end of January. Players from U4 to U8 play (and practice) Saturday mornings at the EWSZA West Soccer Centre (17415 106A Avenue). For U10 to U18 age groups, locations and dates of play vary. Game schedules are generally posted on the EWZSA website in early October. For more details, visit the EWZSA website: http://www.ewzsa.com/home

5. What age groups are eligible to play? EWZSA organizes teams for players in the following age groups for indoor 2014/2015:

U4 – Born 2011
U6 – Born 2010 & 2009 (no U5 teams in indoor)
U8 – Born 2008 & 2007
U10 – Born 2006 & 2005
U12 – Born 2004 & 2003
U14 – Born 2002 & 2001
U16 – Born 2000 & 1999
U18 – Born 1998 & 1997

6. Will my child play for a North Glenora team? All registered players are assigned to a team in the player’s age group (see list above). In the recent past, North Glenora players have been assigned to play indoor soccer on teams from other neighbourhoods. This year, NGCL Sports is hoping to have enough players (and volunteer coaches) to form North Glenora indoor teams for the following age groups as part of EWSZA indoor soccer: U6(born 2010 or 2009), U8 (born 2008 or 2007) and U10 (born 2006 and 2005). If you are interested in volunteering to coach a North Glenora team in one of these age groups please contact us by email on or before September 5at [email protected] with the age group for which you would like to coach.
