Free Summer Park Programs for Kids

Once again, free drop-in programming will be offered in the park. Starting July 2, children aged six and up are welcome to join in games, sports, crafts, music, drama and special events. Children under the age of six are welcome as well but must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.

The popular city-run Green Shack Playground Program will only be offered half days from 2:30 – 6:00 pm this year. Since many families rely on full-day programming, a new local program is being organized to help fill in the gaps. Four community groups (NGCL, Grovenor Community League, Westmount Presbyterian church and St Paul’s Anglican church) have jointly hired a summer student (Mark W.) to provide outdoor park activities. Mark will be in our park during the mornings where he will organize games and other fun events. We are also actively encouraging North Glenora residents to volunteer this year by organizing one-time “special events.” If you’d like to organize a craft, a water balloon fight, soccer match or any other kind of game for kids, please contact Carolyn at [email protected].
